Should Tyrone keep shooting?

Give Tyrone Lewis credit, he learned one thing while watching Charron Fisher — if you want to lead the team in scoring, keep shooting no matter how cold you are.

Unfortunately, that was exactly the mentality that killed the Niagara university men’s basketball team at times last season, and it’s possible the strategy could wreak havoc on the Purple Eagles again this year. In four of his last nine games, Lewis has shot worse than 20 percent from the floor. Still, that hasn’t made him shy about jacking it up — the junior had at least a dozen attempts in each of those games.

I’ve long been of the theory that Lewis is the best natural scorer in the league. But when he’s cold, he’s got to find other ways to help his team. If not, it could be another quick exit from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament.

With all the talent NU has, that’d be a shame.
